Someone recently asked me why I moved back to my village after spending so many years studying, working, and traveling abroad.
I told them I like it here.
They laughed, thinking I was joking.
This morning, I sat outside with my mother, drinking tea and listening to her tell me a story I’ve heard since childhood. Except this time, she added something I had never heard before.
I asked why she’d never mentioned that part.
She looked at me and said, “You never asked.”
And there it was. Another reminder that I can travel halfway around the world looking for knowledge and still discover something new sitting outside my mother’s house.
I’ll probably be off somewhere again soon. But for now, I’m enjoying being home.
